I was commissioned by Stadsdeel Zuid to make a proposal for a new entrance to the famous Amsterdam Albert Cuyp Market. My concept was a live feed of visitors to the market and the products available there.
In the 19th century, the Albert Cuyp was a river, and it still seems to have that feel because of the movements of the 6 million people who visit the market every year and the steady ‘flow’ of products that are available to buy.
I therefore created a large database of the different visitors and products. My proposal was a visualization of the two elements of visitors and products. The database was displayed on an interactive portal and the speed of the ticker was determined by the number of visitors to the market.
